Shopping dates are the best

December 30, 2009

A few days before this past Christmas, I went on a mini shopping date in LA with the boyfriend.

We stopped by Opening Ceremony (FINALLY), and ran into this guy (unfortunately, not with Nicole)…

I really like her new hair…

The OC store is awesome- what an experience. Most of the stuff was on sale too. But too bad it was all over my budget still…sad.

They had tons of Tsumori Chisato, Commes Des Garcons, AW, Acne….

So after all the drooling, we headed over to A.P.C., for some more mega drooling…

But this time it was different- I came out with this! Thanks bf!

We hoped to top off such a perfect shopping day with a fatty churro from xooro…but alas, they were closed…maybe next time!

In case of a party emergency

December 31, 2009

Just in case I’m invited to a fabulous party (or wedding, etc), I’ve decided to stock up on some fun pieces. And a dress. *gasp* Dresses and I don’t mix very well, but on the OC store exploration the other day, I found a dress that was so cool, I knew I could totally pull off. And of course, my luck- I find it on a very yummy sale at shopbop.

Simple with a twist. Need I say more? If only the shipping didn’t take so darn long…

Oh and I couldn’t resist. I’ve been waiting for this one to go on sale too.

Had my eye on it at Nordstrom…finally landed in the shopbop sale.

Eeek my cc might just die on me.

Tsumori Chisato+Shu Uemera

December 9, 2009

Shu Uemera has given me another reason to want to spend my dough. Tsumori Chisato. The genius fashion designer has created a limited holiday line for Shu Uemera. It’s totally me- I swear! Cats, glitter, stars…need I say more? It’s supposed to be inspired by The Little Prince. I think the collection speaks for itself as well. The makeup colors are fairly neutral and fun as well. I already have a list of a million reasons why the collection is worth the price tag (about $36 and up). Have you?

Watch out…I’m going to devour this collection!

At the minimun, I’ll find a way to get my hands on this one.

RIP Daul Kim

December 1, 2009

More recently, Korean models have been gaining popularity in mainstream fashion. It’s awesome, since most of them tend to be very unique looking (or even ugly in Korean culture standards). But out of all of them, the most interesting by far was Daul Kim. Since she first showed up in 2007, I’ve followed her especially through her blog iliketoforkmyself.blogspot.com. She was dark, funny, insightful and very avant garde. For her young age, she was smart, cultured and a trendsetter. She created art, wore complicated clothing (which I adored) and was just too cool…

But about a week ago, she was found dead in the Paris apartment, in an apparent suicide. Such a sad ending to such a bright talent.

Maybe it had to do with her constant struggle with being Korean and trying to be herself. A few months before her death, she did a topless fashion photoshoot (for i-D mag?), where she also had dyed her hair blonde. She got sooo much crap from the Korean community…dumb. Other sources site depression and bi-polarity for her apparent suicide. Maybe it was a combination…whatever it was, it’s very very sad…

RIP Daul KIM

Killer heels

December 1, 2009

Since money is always an issue when it comes to fashion, and YSL tribute pumps don’t have friendly or even pretend-friendly price tags, I’ve been scouring the world for some alternatives…which has been fairly difficult…

Most are too short, too fat heels, not enough platform, etc.

Here’s what I’ve been considering:

Steve Madden Tristano black suede pumps

I love everything about this shoe except for the suede part. Booo. They do remind me of the Gucci pumps and booties a few seasons back.

Aldo Franchette pumps

These are fairly classic, and seems to be the closest to the tributes. Although I wish the bottom sole part was covered. At least it comes in some cute colors.

GAAHHH This is it…pathetic…I’m ready to give up…

Paper O-bsession

October 9, 2009

Ever since my trip to Korea in 2006, I’ve been in LOVE with O-Check, a Korean stationary company. Back then I bought a hardcover journal made of recycled paper and organic illustrations. When I went back in 08, I saw their flagship store in Hongdae on a taxi ride and made sure I stopped by. I ended up getting a ton of planners, journals, etc…and tried talking to the owner of the store in my broken Korean. Apparently I was gushing about how great their stuff was, and that they really needed to come into America, etc…and my sister accused me of hitting on the guy. lol. He did hook us up with free calendars and tote bags! He also mentioned that they were trying to get more contacts in the US and hoped to sell there soon. AND GUESS WHAT?

They are now in Anthropologie. And it’s weird that they only carry the journals/planners that I actually bought. Hmm…

But seriously, their stuff is amazing and nice to Mother Earth. Recycled materials, delicate scribbles, pockets, neutral colors…it’s perfect. Go do yourself a favor and get one of their travel journals. It’ll put a smile on your face!

Sorry dudes…

October 9, 2009

I spent the weekend+ in my adopted city of San Francisco. To be honest I had too much fun I forgot to take pictures. And literally, all I did was eat and shop. And as usual, fight with my sister, hang with the boyf, and spend at least some girl time with the girlfs!

Here is sort of a recap…

Thursday night: Ate dinner at some famous Vietnamese rice dish place with the boyf, then went to Santana Row for boba, then hit a bar/lounge called Sino.

Friday: El Farolito for the best burritos and quesadillas in Norcal! Humphry Slocombe for weird salty ice cream. Into the city to shop. Sister picked up awesome Elizabeth and James top which I will “borrow”. Attempted to buy a Gucci purse…failed miserably. Walked around union square and found my friend! Ate at Pearl’s burgers…BEST BURGERS EVER! Almost had a heart attack afterwards. Shop-browsed again. Watched USC pep rally. Toured my friend’s super cute apartment.

Saturday: Shopping AGAIN early in the morning. Damage: 3 pants (not jeans!), 2 white shirts. Ate brunch at The Butler and the Chef Bistro…and subsequently went to heaven…it’s THAT good! Went to Berkeley, drank beers out of paperbags and frolicked around causing a ruckus especially on frat row…what memories…then went to the USC vs. CAL game and saw CAL get ROCKED! Go USC! Then late dinner at Spices 3- asian-style.

Sunday: Church. Berkeley for the Gourmet Ghetto street fair, grocery shopping, walking around doing nothing. Ate at Gypsy’s and grabbed some cornbread and tea and watched as students studied for tests…while the boyf and I reminisced about school. We are quite big losers.

Monday: Shopping again…metallic loafers and flip-flops. Ate at Venus, which was again, amazing. Shopping in the city again- utensils for mom at deeply discounted prices! Found a pair of gorgeous boots at a thrift/second hand store on Fillmore. Airport!

I feel like I haven’t done ANYTHING. That was quite the vacation…too bad I really have no pictures…I need to work on that.

Read my reviews on YELP.

I always love A.P.C.’s Fall line- they never fail to make me drool. BUT, their stupid lookbook will not let me use their photos (or I’m stupid and can’t get it to work…). They have some great looks, for girls and guys, so go check it out! Here are three exceptional pieces I was able to dig up.

Knee High Boots

These boots look comfy, classic with the perfect heel. I have a gazillion outfits I can wear it with…if only I had $$..

Wedge Sparta

These are nice and simple too. Not too trendy at all, like all those other crazy gladiator-ish sandals.

Alexa Chung is a fan..She wears these beauties on her show all the time!

Crepe Jersey Dress

A perfect essential…

I will work on getting more looks on here, in the meantime, enjoy the glimpse.
